Woodwork and Doctor visit!

This week we enjoyed learning how to use the woodwork area safely!

We were also very excited to have Dr Munn , Joshua's Mum, visit us to tell us all about what it's like to be a doctor!

Weekly News 17th November

In phonics we have been learning the sounds g, o and ck. The children have enjoyed looking through the sounds we have learnt so far in their sound books. Please continue helping your child to practise recognising sounds at home to build their confidence in phonics and to help them earn their sound stickers!

In maths we have been learning about numbers. We have been practising to count, form numbers, find numbers on a number line and 100 square.

This week we have also been working in small groups to create collages of hedgehogs and squirrels. The children have had to negotiate which picture they wanted to collage and how they were going to finish it together.

Thank you to everyone that came to our reading café’s over the past couple of weeks! We hope you enjoyed an afternoon at school with your child!

We have sent out a letter about our Christmas Craft Morning that will be happening on Friday 8th December, please let us know if you haven’t received it. Mrs Theobald is giving you permission to take your child home straight after the Christmas craft morning. This is because, in our experience, many children get very upset at having to say goodbye to you after having shared the morning together in school. Therefore, to avoid this, we are offering you the chance to take your child home to spend the afternoon together. If you decide to do this, please remember NOT to order your child a school lunch on the dinner slip for that day.

Weekly News 10th November

This week we have been learning the sounds i n m and d. As we continue to learn more sounds, please help your child to retain them by practising them at home using their sound books. This will help to build their confidence with sounds and learning phonics at school.

In maths we have been continuing to look at numbers by singing songs, counting objects, looking at number lines, looking at numbers on a 100 square and forming numbers correctly.

The woodland reading café’s also started this week, thank you to those of you that have attended so far. If you are yet to confirm whether you are able to attend the event on your date then please come and tell a member of staff in the reception base.

You will soon be receiving a letter about show and tell that is due to start on Friday 17th November. To help your child prepare for this, please take a picture of your child reading in a strange place and talk to your child about where it is they were reading and what their favourite part of the book was. Please then bring that picture into school for your child to talk about to the rest of the class. More details of show and tell will follow.

We will soon be giving all of the children a bible donated by Mulbarton Church. If you do not wish to receive it then please let a member of staff in the base know.

Weekly News 2nd November

This week we have been learning about the sounds: s a t and p. The children have been learning to hear the sounds in words, think of words with that sound and write the sounds. Similarly, when reading with the children this week, we have been teaching the children to spot the sounds in words. Please continue to practise this at home with your child.

In maths, we have been learning about numbers. We have been practising to count to a given number, spot numbers on a number line and form the numbers correctly.

In ‘Twiggle Time’ we have been learning about emotions and more specifically what makes us feel happy.

If you have not already done so, please hand in your reply slips for the woodland reading café’s.

Please ensure your child has wellies and spare socks in school at all times. We use our outdoor woodland area in any weather!

We have recently set up a new doctor’s surgery role play and this has been very popular with the children! We would like to ask whether any of you who work as a doctor or a nurse would be willing to come into school and be interviewed by the children about your profession.

On Friday 8th December  we have our Christmas craft morning. It starts at 9 and runs until 11:30. After this craft morning, you may take your child home early. In our experience, it is best to take your child home afterwards as they can become upset. It will not be marked as an unauthorised absence. We will send out more information about the morning in due course.

We hope you all had a lovely half term. The children have been very excited to tell us what they got up to!
