Week beginning Monday 1st
June 2020
Each week we will be suggesting
activities to do with your child at home. This will include a daily letters and
sounds and maths activity and a weekly topic based idea too. It
is up to you when you do the home learning but we would love to see how your
child is getting on so please upload what you can to tapestry.
If you have any queries or concerns
please post these on tapestry and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.
Letters and Sounds:
Each day-whenever possible- we would
like your child to be reading- Bug Club is great to use and also please keep
practising the tricky words and sounds in their sound book.
Don’t forget to collect your rewards
on Bug Club as you answer the quiz when you have finished reading the book !
We recommend using the link below for 5
Phonics lessons suitable for Reception children during the summer term.
Here is an explanation about the lessons which go live each Monday.
Here are this week’s lessons:
Our
topic this term is 'Will you read me a story ?' and each week we will be
learning a different traditional story.
Please
listen to this week’s
story of ‘The
3 Billy Goats Gruff’ which will be uploaded to tapestry ready for
Monday morning.
1. After listening to Mrs.Aspin reading the story of '
The 3 Billy Goats Gruff’ on tapestry, ask your child to draw a picture of the
characters in the story. Can they use their phonic skills to write labels to go
with their picture ?
2. Can
they draw a picture of their favourite part of the story and write a sentence
to explain what is happening ? Ask your child to tell you the important rules
when writing a good sentence. ( A sentence needs to start with a capital
letter, when you write you need to remember to leave 'finger spaces' between
the words, it needs to make sense and you need to remember to put a 'full stop'
at the end of the sentence.)
3. Can you ask your child remember why
the 3 billy goats wanted to cross the bridge ? Can they find out what else
goats like to eat ? Can they write a list of goat’s favourite food ? Can they
write a list of their favourite food too ?
4.On ‘Phonics play’ please can your
child play ‘Sentence Substitution’ ? https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/SentSubPhase3.html
'Education city' please can your child play ‘ Goat Load’ game on
'English 2’.
On 'letterjoin'
can they practice the letters in the words ‘g o a t s g r u f f ‘ ?
5.
Can your child make a poster as a warning to goats or people about the Troll
who lives under the bridge ?
Can your child use their creative and
problem-solving skills to make something to enable the goats to reach the
‘lush, green grass’ whilst avoiding going near the Troll ?
Can they explain what they have made
and why they used the materials they used ?
Maths
Please use the link for 'white rose
maths' which the whole school use. There are 5 brilliant sessions each week
based around a book. This week the activities focus on the story of ' The
Snail and the Whale’-please follow the early years link below:
RE :
Islam, what do Muslims celebrate at Eid?
Here is a link to 3 short clips to
watch with your child:
After the clips, on the same page,
there is a link to a short quiz you can complete with your child all about Eid.
Perhaps you could ask your child some
questions about the short clips.
What do Muslims do to celebrate Eid
with their families?
Can you think of anything that we
celebrate as a family?
Where do Muslims go to pray?

The
theme this week is positivity - so here is a suggestion for an activity to help
your child in these uncertain times.
Mail
a hug - draw
around your head, shoulders and arms stretched out, cut it out and decorate.
when its dry, pop it in an envelope and post your hug to a friend or family member that you really miss! It’s a
fun way to brighten someone’s day.
Have your kids mail a hug to friends and family that they don’t see
often! It’s a fun, easy way to brighten someone’s day. Hi friends! Last Fall,
we did this mail a hug activity as part of our 75 Acts of Kindness for Kids
challenge and it was a huge hit! We mailed one to my parents and one to my
sister, since they both live several states away.
